Yeah, I think you're on to something. Our company tends to buy talent instead of grooming talent, which I think leads to a "mercenary" culture.

Any lead on how to test the hypothesis? Maybe an engagement survey question asking employees to rate whether their role was a stretch assignment or something they were well qualified for?
