Wally Bock

Google's clearly got a good focus on talent. The problem seems to be that it's the geek genius thing. There are other talents they will need as they grow, professional HR being one.

They still mired in a process that worked when they were a tenth the size they are now. They've brought in Lazlo Bock (no relation) from GE and McKinsey to professionalize what they're doing and bring their processes up to what they need as the grow and grow.

They will have to deal with the laws of nature and economics that say that nothing goes up forever. When Google stumbles, as it must, they're going to wind up in a position of taking away some of the more expensive and non-essential perks.
