Title inflation is not only rampant, but so is the race to create the most exotic sounding titles - e.g., chief cultural officer, chief innovation officer, chief privacy officer, chief apology officer and chief geek.

One gets the sense that some organizations put effort into devising exotic titles for public relations purposes. After all, if the firm is so unencumbered to use such icon-busting names, it must have a wild, unorthodox culture, one that may allow folks to play their electric guitars at work.
